Started in 2019, Trigram Robot SUMO is a team-based robot competition where participants are divided into two teams and compete against each other. It is a contest that showcases individual abilities and teamwork skills.

Trigram Robot SUMO se déroule sous forme d’équipe, chaque équipe étant composée de 2 étudiants participants et de 1 à 2 enseignants entraîneurs. Il existe deux catégories : l’école primaire et l’école secondaire. Les élèves participants doivent être actuellement inscrits à l’école primaire ou secondaire le jour de la compétition. L’arène de compétition est une plate-forme circulaire d’un diamètre de 2,8 mètres. La plate-forme se trouve à environ 35 centimètres au-dessus du sol et la zone de départ du robot est de forme trapézoïdale située à 50 centimètres du bord. La zone à l’intérieur de la ligne de préparation jusqu’au bord de la plate-forme est la zone de départ des robots, les robots de chaque équipe étant placés les uns en face des autres dans cette zone.
